Whiteley’s portraits start at $1800 for a 35cm x 45cm-sized cotton stretched canvas.

That’s face, shoulders with a plain background. If you want more features like detailed clothes or specific settings, this takes more time so extra fees will apply.

Many people want a marginally larger one with more details and they start at $2200.

Portraits of couples start at $2900. A family of four starts at $3500. The size of the canvas can be adjusted to suit the needs of the wall space in your home.

If you want a very large family portrait – 1.6 metres by 1.2 meters – these portraits start at $3500. These usually feature artwork and are displayed prominently in the home.

Whiteley also paints pets, mostly dogs and cats, and they start at $1800. The pet portraits are very popular. It’s quite important to understand the character of the dog or cat and this cannot be done through looking at a photograph. Whiteley must meet you and your pet together to better understand that special relationship between you both.

How it works

If you want your own original Whiteley portrait get in touch with Patrick and have a chat. If you live in Sydney, you’ll meet up and he will take some pictures to work from.

If you have a favourite picture, he can work off that too. But he really needs to meet the subject and take his own pictures. He also needs to discover the subject’s personality with a face-to-face sit down. . If you live elsewhere, a Facebook chat will work, too.

A 20% non-refundable deposit is required, and then work begins. It takes about a month to finish depending on his backlog of portraits.

Along the way he will email you on the progress when you can make suggestions and adjustments.
